Here, Wohlschlegel shows how he remains faithful to his aspiration to separate painting as an independent form of expression from nature. The adventurous painter, who at other times devoted himself more to the abstraction of the informal and gestural forms of expression, is open to the joy of life of the “Swinging Sixties”. The colors, the rhythm, the fantastically extatic streching of the world of experience, for example by hallucinogenic drugs, come to mind.
The work focuses entirely on the artist’s creative vision and the effect of color. The former friend of Jules Bissier shows here especially in the reduction to the essentials his whole bravura.
